Beauty D.I.Y: Yogurt conditioning hair mask

Hello ~

Yes, I am able to post more often, I hope I can keep doing it :) Today's post was supposed to be up before reviewing Lucid by Adrienne Stoltz, Ron Bass, but I didn't have time to edit the pictures, but I finished editing them now so here is the review :)

D.I.Y Yogurt conditioning hair mask:

Things you'll need:

  • oil - I used almond oil (don't use if you have oily hair)
  • yogurt
  • egg
  • spoon
How to:

 1. open the yogurt, hopefully you'll be smarter than me, and shake it before you open it, because it'll be easier for you to mix.
2. add the egg
3. add three spoons of almond oil (or any oil you like) *Skip this step if you have oily hair.
4. mix mix mix
5. keep mixing until it becomes white
6. and done :)

How to apply:
1. wash your hair with shampoo, and towel dry it.
2. section your hair and apply it the same way you would apply hair dye.
3. cover your head with shower cap/plastic bag, then wrap a hot towel around your head.
4. leave it on your hair for 30 minute to 1 hour.
5. wash your hair with water.

Pros:
- moisturize your hair.
- make it shine.

Cons:
 - smells like infants vomit.(but it is mild)
 - can get a bit messy when you apply.
 - do not wash it out with hot/warm water, because I did and I got omelette on my hair !!

Final verdict: really easy and affordable, but the smell disturbs me (I have a sensitive nose), but I'll use it again in the future when my hair becomes dead.

hope you try it :)

Book Review: Raven Stole the Moon by Garth Stein

Umm.. hi :)

I planned to post a review or a D.I.Y beauty 2 weeks ago, but I had to work so I got no time, and since I resigned (because it was really stressful) I now have time to post.

Today's post is a book review, just like the previous book, I was so bored at work and was browsing the files on my phone and saw this book, I belief I downloaded this book last year after I finished reading The Snow Child (which I LOVE) because it was recommended/listed as similar in goodreads.com (add me here)

Summery:
When Jenna Rosen abandons her comfortable Seattle life to visit Wrangell, Alaska, it's a wrenching return to her past. The hometown of her Native American grandmother, Wrangell is located near the Thunder Bay Resort, where Jenna's young son, Bobby, disappeared two years before. His body was never recovered, and Jenna is determined to lay to rest the aching mystery of his death. But whispers of ancient legends begin to suggest a frightening new possibility about Bobby's fate, and Jenna must sift through the beliefs of her ancestors, the Tlingit, who still tell of powerful, menacing forces at work in the Alaskan wilderness. Armed with nothing but a mother's protective instincts, Jenna's quest for the truth behind her son's disappearance is about to pull her into a terrifying and life-changing abyss.

My Opinion :
I loved this book, I really like folk tales and stuff like this, and I've always like native Indians, their culture is really interesting. and the Kushtaka was something new to me, and I loved it -I am using it for roleplay :).
Some of the chapters were confusing and the bad news is that most of the story was boring, many chapter were useless they didn't add anything to the story, like they are fillers or something, but every few chapters there will be some interesting things that happen so it was okay.
warning: sex in chapter 22 (not sex sex like the things you would read in yunjae fanfictions, but they were doing it, so I am warning you just in case )

This book gave me nightmares the second day after I finished it, I kept dreaming of these otters replacing my family members (kushtaka in conjunction with the movie forget me not, add stress from work, and lack of sleep and you get a very disturbing and uncomfortable night)

Favourite character: Eddie, this man is amazing <3 also I guess I like David too, but Eddie is the best.

Did I like the ending ? Nope, not the ending that I wanted.

Book Review: Lucid by Adrienne Stoltz, Ron Bass

Hello lovelies ~

can you notice that I am starting to post more often ? I hope I can make even more posts in the coming days :)

I've been wanting to read the book I am reviewing today for a long time, but I always got busy and forget about it, until the other day at work when I had nothing to do and was browsing the files on my phone, that I noticed I have this ebook and started reading it.

Summery:
What if you could dream your way into a different life? What if you could choose to live that life forever?
Sloane and Maggie have never met. Sloane is a straight-A student with a big and loving family. Maggie lives a glamorously independent life as an up-and-coming actress in New York. The two girls couldn't be more different--except for one thing. They share a secret that they can't tell a soul. At night, they dream that they're each other.
The deeper they're pulled into the promise of their own lives, the more their worlds begin to blur dangerously together. Before long, Sloane and Maggie can no longer tell which life is real and which is just a dream. They realize that eventually they will have to choose one life to wake up to, or risk spiralling into insanity. But that means giving up one world, one love, and one self, forever.

alternative cover
My Opinion :

as I said, I've been wanting to read this book for ages, and finally got the chance to, at first it wasn't that interesting (I mean not much happenings) but then more characters started to appear, and when I reached the chapters at the end (20 something) I got so consumed in the story that I became a statue (that's what my co-workers said, "I am just a body with no sense of reality", "my soul went to an alternative world and left my body here a souvenir" and similar things) seriously, I sat there clutching to my phone and making facial expression and gasping, not noticing anything that is happening around me, and suddenly everything went black, my phone battery died without a warning when I had only 10 pages to finish the story I shouted a curse and ran to charge my phone, good thing since I work in a salon there is electricity plug everywhere, but the bad thing that the salon was kind of crowded at that time I was not able to use my phone while it was charging, I was so tense I couldn't sit down, I was literally walking in circles in the reception area, at that time I realized how drug addicts feel when they don't get their drug, it was horrible..

but after that I got to finish the thing and I wish I didn't, dude this was mindfucking, I had almost the same feeling I got after I finished reading Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson (do you want a review ?)

Favourite character: Jade, I love this little kid, she is perfect and she is how I've always imagined my future daughter would be like ^___^

June favourites

Hello, long time no see ~

sorry I didn't post for so long, it is because I am working now (this is my first job :]), and also it is Ramadan so I have no power to do anything since I am fasting, but here is the overdue post of June monthly favourites

  •  Jergens Smoothing Aloe Skin Comforting Moisturizer: this moisturiser is amazing, it really hydrates the skin and leave it looking smooth for a long time, it gives the skin a healthy glow which I love because my skin is so dry (I should drink more water). what I love the most about this moisturiser is that it is not sticky and the skin absorb it really fast, so you don't have to worry about your clothes getting dirty. in addition to that, this moisturiser have Aloe and Cucumber in it, wich cools the skin and reduce irritation, which I adore because dry skin = itchy skin >.<

  • WATER FIX hair lotion: hair lotion ? interesting huh.. I got this because I ran out of my frizz-control hair spray, since my hair is curly and dry, I can't go out of the house without putting something on it, or I'll look like a lion, which is not attractive at all. for only 700 files ($1.86) this things will give you smooth healthy looking hair without frizz, because it not only control frizz but it hydrates your hair, and it helps in getting rid of tangles. this is the best thing I've ever used in my hair

you can tell which one I love the most right ?

  • LOOK lip color: I bought these when I was in KSA, they had so many colours on display I didn't know which one to choose, so I got 4 of them. what I like about this product is that it is a lip crayon, which is really convenient because you don't have to worry about it melting, or be careful when you get it out because it might break. the texture is creamy and it doesn't dry your lips, it doesn't smudge easily and you can layer other lip product over it without getting their applicator dirty.
sorry for the blurry picture
from left to right: 314, 356, 353, 350

  • L'CHEAR Budding Pink-Heart 8-color painting eye shadow: this is what I bought when I went pet fish shopping. lol. but it was worth it, because this is the best eyeshadow palette I've ever got. the quality is perfect and it only costed me 1 BHD ($2.65). the eyeshadows are very pigmented and they are not chalky, and they don't crease, also the staying power is really impressive, they stayed for the whole day even thought I rub my eyes a lot.
but unfortunately, it fell down and break.
  • essence stay natural concealer: essence is an affordable brand with good quality makeup, but unfortunately in Bahrain you can't find it easily. good for me they sell it near my dad's workplace so he can pick up what I want on his way back from work :) for a long time, I used BB cream in place of concealer, the result were good but not perfect, and recently my dark circles became worse and I got an acne scare on my chin which I hate, and BB cream wasn't working for me anymore. so when I saw the essence makeup stand in Red tag I immediately checked the concealers they have, and I got number 03 SOFT NUDE, which matches my skintone and brightens my face, I even use this as a highlighter because it looks natural but gives your face a beautiful glow, it doesn't crease and it is very long lasting, it stayed on my face for 2 days (I was too lazy to wash my face) and it still looked nice.

  • L'CHEAR Shiny Lip Gloss: recently I've been loving lip glosses, and when I've seen these in the market I got them immediately, not to mention that it costed me 500 files ($1.33) for both. they don't smell yummy, but they are still good, these are very pigmented and creamy, and even though they don't moisturizer the lips, they don't dry it which is very good, because lip gloss normally makes your lips very dry. these will fade when you eat and drink but the good thing is that they stain your lips a little so if they fade you won't have pale lips, but there will still be a hint of colour on them which is perfect because I never re-apply my makeup (laziness).
number 3, number 2
here are the swatches, the lower is how it is applied normally, while the upper ones are when you smudge them and blot them with tissue paper.

So these were the products I loved in June, and hopefully I'll be able to keep doing monthly favourites.
See you :)

unplanned haul :)

Hello ^___^

Today I went with my brother to buy him more aquarium fish since he got a bigger tank, but we ended up getting these cute little chicks instead
but seriously, I have to stop buying pets, our apartment is slowly turning into a zoo..

Anyway, since we couldn't find anything but goldfish (which he hates) we decided to go again in the afternoon, but again we couldn't find the fish he wanted so I suggested we take a look at the weekly market near the pet shop, I ended up spending all the money in my wallet to get this:

handbag, shoes, two lipgloss, eyeshadow pallet, mascara
all of that costed 6.500 BHD ($17.24) which I think is really good ~
the bag only costed 2 BHD ($5.30) and the shoes were of the same price :)

I am really happy about the stuff I bought and I will go there again to get another pair of shoes.

that's it for today, and sorry for the lack of pictures, my camera's battery is dead >.<

Book Review: King Solomon's Mines

Hello guys, How have you been ?
personally I haven't been very well, this is officially 2nd week of hell this year (it is not yet half of the years).. hopefully things will get better this week :)

to be honest I was actually planning to review bornprettystore.com and the products I got from them, but I accidentally deleted the pictures so...

I wasn't planing on reading anything today, but when I went to Uni this morning my class was canceled which means I'll be sitting there for an hour doing nothing, so I thought why not go spend this hour in heaven (a.k.a UoB Central Library)

Summery:

Alan Quatermain, Sir Henry Curtis and Captain john Good have travelled a long way over difficult country to the hidden land of the Kukuanas.  Now, deep inside a mountain, they have finally found king Solomon's treasure.  There are enough diamonds there to make them the richest men in the world.  But will they be able to leave the treasure room ?
back cover
My Opinion :
I wanted a quick read because I only had an hour or so to read, and I choose this book because a few weeks ago my Arab110 lesson was about king Solomon and his great army so I thought why not ? besides I didn't have much time to go through all the books in the library to choose what to read (I normally forget myself when I am surrounded by books, the past semesters I would spend 5 hours in the library just staring at the books -while they are on the shelf- or touching them I don't even read the title, open the book, or even get it of it's shelf, weird I know).
anyway to the actual review, I like to read about adventure and traveling and lost treasures, maybe because I rarely get out of the house X(
and this one was really fun to read even though it was so short and everything happened so quickly with little detail but that is probably because this is a revised version from the original story written by Sir H. Rider Haggard (Penguin Readers offer simplified text of the real books and this one is level 4 -Intermediate 1700 words) when I was reading the first chapter I thought this might not be that interesting, but as I kept reading it got more fun, my favourite parts are from chapter 11 to 13 :)

Bobbie Brown Makeup Lesson Experience + FOTD

Hello again <3

this is going to be my first face of the day post (hopefully not my last). Lately I've been taking makeup lessons at Bobbie Brown (the basic how to apply makeup)

last week was how to do Smokey Eyes, the lesson duration is 20 minutes, but I asked the makeup artist that works there -which is by the way is an amazing person, she is really sweet and friendly and she was really clear with explaining everything- to alter it so I would be able to wear it to University, and she did.. everything was easier than I thought it would be and it looked really pretty :)

and while we are at it I'll tell you my opinion about their mascara :
Bobbi Brown 'Everything' Mascara
at the store it looked really beautiful when I applied it, it made my lashed look more defined ad it gave a noticeable volume and I had no trouble with it at all, and I left it on my face the whole day (I do that when I am using a new product to test it'd durability) and the next morning after I washed t I noticed that my lashes looked thinner, but I thought that's probably because I washed of the mascara and now my lashes are back to looking boring, but through out the day my lashes kept falling off :( and now they look thin and brittle.
I know that it is caused by this because I don't wear makeup unless I have to.

*Disclaimer: I am not telling you not to buy this product I am just telling you about my experience with it*

Today's lesson was Secret to Perfect Skin, this time I had another makeup artist teaching me how to do things, she was okay and a little bit rough but maybe it is because I am just not used to people touching my face :/
First thing was skincare routine, which I found okay, but it won't replace my current skincare routine (BTW would anyone like me to make a post about that ?) mainly because it feels kinda heavy on my skin, I can actually feel that I am wearing layers of product which doesn't feel nice at all and it makes me look like I just dipped my face inside a frying pan >.<

Then she showed me how to conceal my dark circles, which was amazing!!
after that she showed me how to swatch foundation and how to find the right shade for me, and applied foundation on my face, this was my first time wearing foundation (I normally use BB cream) and I didn't like it that much because even though the formula was really light it had a lot of coverage (I would recommend it because this is a really good product) but I don't need any coverage because my skin is clear except for my horrible dark circles :(

After that she used bronzer, honestly I've tried applying bronzer many time but my face always looks dirty when I do XP but it looks nice when she applied it hopefully I'll be able to do it the same way :)

Aaaand, this is the results:
ignore my blurred mom in the background
^awkward selfie face

Bronzer - medium

What did I buy

*This was supposed to be posted on Saturday but the internet stopped working before it was poster on my blog, and I am just too lazy to adjust everything I wrote so here you go*

Hello there ^___^

it have been a long time since I posted something, I've had a lot of stuff that I wanted to post about but I wasn't allowed to use my laptop because of my sickness :(

anyway so today's post is about the things that I bought, first I'll start with the stuff I bought yesterday:

I love buying deodorant (no, I don't have body odor problems)
playboy play it Lovely + playboy play it Sexy

My mascara started smelling weird so I went to Daiso to buy a new one (mostly because it is cheap and I am broke)

Hopefully I'll be able to review it soon :)

I also bought an eyelash curler because my other one is crooked and it break/rip out my lashes >.<

and today while I was waiting for my mom to get out from work, I thought I'll look around the shop to pass time and I came across this:
it is a turmeric soap, everyone keep saying how amazing for your skin is and how good it is at getting rid of body acne so I thought why not give it try.

( the story of my bacne:
two years ago when I was in school, I was so bored in math class so I thought why not take a nap?
and while I was dead sleeping, my classmates turned me into a scrapbook, they wrote on my neck/shoulders/face with markers and blue pens.. anyway after two days I started developing acne on my shoulder and until this day I can't get rid of it T.T)

but before going to pick up my mom from work I bought these ~
look at this cute nose ~
I bought two cute little mice <3

*shy*
running around in there new home

aren't they so cute ? I've wanted to get a white mouse for like 4 years or so but my mom never allowed me to :(
but this time she let me :D
Do you guys have any suggestion for names ? (they are both females)

Bonus: I got escada perfume samples in the mail today

and that's it for today's post, see you next time

Book Review: Haven: A Stranger Magic (Book 1)

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
Hello there, it is me again ^___^

I am very exited about today review because this is the first time I'm given something to review :D

Book: Haven: A Stranger Magic (Book 1)

Author: D.C. Akers

D.C. Akers is an Amazon Best Selling Author. Like many who enjoy the fantasy genre, Akers started reading it as an adolescent. He was fascinated with Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. He currently enjoys reading works by Dean Koontz, Heather Brewer, J.K. Rowling, and Rick Riordan.

Akers enjoys creating a fantasy world with compelling story-lines, while injecting humor and a touch of drama into the action as he did with his first book Terra Vonnel and the Skulls of Aries, which has received rave reviews.

“I start every story with this thought: Where can I take my audience now? To me it’s about the journey, the escape into a world filled with the fantastic and the unexpected. There is nothing like an adventure that takes you further from reality with every turn of the page.”

D.C. Akers was born in Texas and attended Crowley High School. After spending several years working in accounting, Akers began to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a writer.

Summery:
Sam Dalcome thinks he is so completely average that no one ever notices him. Until he discovers a mysterious stranger outside his home. Bewildered, he tries to uncover the stranger’s intentions. But Sam is sidetracked when he and his friend Travis discover a secret passageway deep in the town’s quarry that leads to a hidden cavern. What they uncover next will not only change their lives forever, but will uncover the first clue to a deadly Dalcome family secret. Sam finds himself drawn into a world of mystery and magic he never knew existed, which brings him closer to a destiny he never knew was possible.

My Opinion :
This book is really easy to read, even though at first it can get a bit boring in the first few chapters that you think nothing interesting is going to happen, but then things start to happen and you can get so indulged in reading you forgot about your surroundings ( I was reading this book on the bus ride to the university when the bus driver suddenly stopped and asked me if I am going to get out the bus yet,
Me: *looking around to find empty seats and realize that I don't know exactly where I am* Umm.. where am I ?
Bus driver: IT college
Me: But I go law college
Bus Driver: yeah.. I stopped there and waited for you to get down, but you didn't so I thought you might want to get off here because you have classes here sometimes.. I even asked you if you will get down here but you ignored me.
Me: *confused* I did ?! I am sorry I didn't know what was going on, I was reading "^_^
Bus driver: *laughes* it is okay.. I'll take you to law college
and he was laughing the whole time I was a bit embarrassed )
overall this book was really fun to read and my favourite was Travis :)
the only bad thing I have to say it that it ends on a cliff hanger, which is expected because this is a series not a single book.
